We are dedicated professionals who aim to help you and your critters better understand each other by integrating dog life into our lives while maintaining training and a healthy lifestyle for both. Here is a brief story about who I am and where I came from, with the hope of providing insight into our dogs’ minds and feelings.
Growing up with four siblings, I experienced many changes that affected our furry friends at home. Divorce brought strong mood swings, impacting our critters and elevating negative emotions—much like what we went through as kids. We faced changes in work schedules, moved from homes to apartments, lost jobs and friends, all while our dogs soaked up everything—both good and bad.
Imagine the sadness, frustration, guilt, and pride expressed through their body language as they watch us all day. They learn about us more deeply than we realize. This mirroring can lead to separation anxiety, fear, insecurities, resource guarding, confusion, extreme anxiety—and stress.
As discussed in the beginner course, dogs live in the moment—free of grudges—and spend their days observing and exploring. Embrace new ideas; involve your family; remember that while it may be challenging at times, it will ultimately be rewarding. You’ll learn much about yourself—the good along with the bad. Reflecting on your time spent together reveals healing for your soul; you’ll see how you’ve contributed to your friend’s success or struggles. In the end,
you’ll discover that your friend’s life mirrored yours.

Esther
Dog Trainer
Esther is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, along with minors in Sociology and History. After spending 10 years in biotechnology as a research scientist, she transitioned into law by earning a Paralegal Certificate and specializing in intellectual property, contract, and corporate law. Esther has worked with various technology companies, including Qualcomm, where her skills in process improvement, attention to detail, and communication helped establish legal departments for several startups. Her passion for animals and understanding of their behavior deepened when she got her dog Mazi and began training him as a service animal. Working alongside certified animal behaviorist and trainer Jonathan, Esther discovered a calling in dog training. She is now thrilled to combine her love for animals with her professional expertise as part of the K9bu team. Esther is proud to be involved in the operations of the company and looks forward to helping dogs and their owners build strong, positive relationships.
